Jeff Rath and The Great Alberta Getaway

The Great Alberta Getaway

Rath saddled up his donkey, with the flag held flying high,
“We’re off to fetch five hundred billion from the U.S. by and by!”
The donkey looked behind him at the money bags in tow,
And brayed, “If this is credit, boss, just where are we to go?”

He thundered through the Rockies, shouting, “Uncle Sam, stand by!
I’ve got a little business proposition—just sign here, don’t ask why!”
“A half a trillion ought to do; we’ll settle when we can—”
The donkey shook his head and said, “You’d better tell the man!”

Behind them came the creditors, with invoices held aloft,
Pursuing through the mountain dust, determined, stern and cross.
“There’s only one small question that we’d really like to know:
If Rath owes a hundred-nine million, where’d our money go?”

The saddle bags were bulging, and the dollar bills flew free,
While Rath cried, “Charge it to Alberta! This is sovereign liberty!”
The donkey stumbled sideways at the weight of all the loot,
And muttered, “At this rate, I think I’m the one who needs a suit!”

So off they raced toward Washington, with creditors in pursuit,
Rath waving for five hundred billion in his best Alberta suit.
The donkey yelled, “Five hundred billion? Are you out of your mind?”
Then Jeff Rath hollered, “Keep on running, boy—the lawyers are behind!”
