The Treasonous Toss
The “Yes” was cast, the party’s through,
The Framework did what it was built to do.
But the “Empowered” woke to a chilly dawn,
To find their Maple Passports were suddenly gone.
“Denaturalized!” the posters all scream,
The end of the “Sovereign” Alberta dream.
Expelled for Treason, they march in a line,
Toward a Montana border they thought would be fine.
“Green Card, please!” they cry at the gate,
To an ICE agent stunned by this twist of fate.
“We’re from Alberta! We’re free! We’re independent!”
(Though their status as citizens is no longer transcendent).
They traded their rights for a Texan hat,
And a “Sovereign” promise that fell very flat.
Now Canada waves with a final, dry grin:
“Thanks for leaving—and don’t come back in!”
